I'm going to a Ska concert next week and Tymon Dogg, who was a "Mescalero", and his band are in support! No idea what that will be like?? :/

So have you travelled around alot?? What were you upto in Liverpool?

liverpool is cool! i went there as an exchange student, to stay for 4 months (a semester), and ended up staying 2.5 years..! So it's all good! :-)

yep, met joe. got backstage after the (mescaleros) gig in liverpool (like i said, his last gig ever, EXACTLY a month before he died), and it's actually all due to tymon dogg! tymon is cool! he's the uncle of my then house-mate's old band mates/good old friends. tymon was the one teaching joe to play the guitar! and he (and his sister, ie, these guys' mum!) were living in the same squat with him in london, years and years back. so quite a history, ey!

anyway, got backstage because of all this. loads of people there, no idea what to say, bla bla, waiting for my turn, then just said something stupid, got my lyrics booklet signed, photo taken, and was abt to go.. (since i had no idea what to say, i was just bouncing up and down all the time instead/as well -i tend to do that...- and he told his friend standing next to us, at least twice; i love it when she does taht!)

so, was abt to leave, nothing more to say, etc, when he was; well, give us a kiss, then! So i kissed him on the cheek. and then i did as well; well you too, then! so then he kissed me (on the cheek), haha!

(bad thing with this though, is that since he died just afterwards, rumours started going round, and soon everyone in liverpool were like; oh, it's you that killed joe strummer -the kiss of death....! it wasn't ME!)

anyway, all good! haha! (really happy i got to see him at least!)

so that's my story..! :-)

You are so lucky!! No one can ever take that moment away from you. It must give you a whole different perspective whenever you listen to any of his stuff!!

The man was/is a legend and, in every interview and story, always comes across as such a down to earth, decent guy!!

Thats really harsh the "kiss of death" thing!! After a PunkRock life,I reckon your kiss probably helped him live that little bit longer!!
Wish I could have met him. I never even got to see him perform! :(

Well,maybe I'll meet tymon on tuesday night? If I mention your name will is he more likely to speak to me?? hehe :) (don't worry I would never do it)

I haven't really any rock'n'roll stories. ..:/
